Disney Cruise Line recently debuted its new and long-awaited 900-acre Bahamas port destination: Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Lookout Cay is Disney’s second exclusive getaway in the Bahamas, after Castaway Cay.
Located along the southern tip of the island of Eleuthera, Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is Disney’s celebration of the people of the Bahamas, their culture, arts, and cuisine. Even Mickey Mouse & Friends partake in the festivities by wearing local Junkanoo-inspired fashions designed by a native Bahamian.

Once your Disney cruise ship docks at Lookout Cay and you disembark for your day of fun, be sure to take a picture of you and your family with an unobstructed view of your ship in the background (about 1/3 of the way on the pier). After you clear the entryway of Lookout Cay, board a tram that transports guests to the heart of Lookout Cay’s activities and more. Here’s a taste of what you can expect:

Twice a day, you and your family will be enveloped by the syncopated beats and melodious rhythms reverberating throughout the environs of Lookout Cay’s Goombay Cultural Center, as a local Junkanoo troupe gets the party started in RUSH! A Junkanoo Celebration at Disney Lookout Cay. The parade march to Goombay Cultural Center’s amphitheater-like stage invites guests to join in this cultural celebration that’s reminiscent of the energy and fun shown in Lionel Ritchie’s “All Night Long” video.

After enjoying the celebratory fun of the Junkanoo festivities of “RUSH!,” you and your family can chill out at Rush Out, Gush Out, a water play area where kids of all ages can enjoy a time of family togetherness.
When it comes to food at Lookout Cay, Disney will impress you with an authentic experience that is phenomenal. Serenity Bay BBQ, True-True BBQ, and its sister restaurant True-True Too BBQ offer delicious Bahamian-inspired delights that are certain to leave you satisfied, including Bahamian-style lime-marinated snapper, Bahamian pigeon peas and rice, plant-based island curry, BBQ ribs, and more, are for your enjoyment!
Lookout Cay offers authentic Bahamian soft and hard beverages at its Reef and Wreck Bar, Blue Hole Bar, Mangroves and Go, Sandsational Smoothies, Watering Hole, and Bow & Ribbon Bar. Be sure to try the Eleuthera Euphoria, Lookout Cay’s signature cocktail, and Bahamas Goombay Punch, as well as local beers Kalik; Sands Beer; and Long John Pineapple Pilsner. Mocktails such as Lookout Cay’s Bahama Brew and Butterfly Switcha are also refreshing.
If you require some alone time, rent a private cabana at one of the six Serenity Bay Cabanas that are available to guests 18 years or older. Or rent one of the 20 secluded beachfront Mabrika Cove Cabanas, near the entrance of the resort, that are designed with families in mind. Whichever you choose, you and your family will enjoy an elevated experience.

However, if you feel that your child would enjoy experiencing Lookout Cay with others in their own age group, then take them to Sebastian’s Cove. Themed after Disney’s The Little Mermaid, this kid’s club is staffed with the same youth club counselors you’ll find in the Oceaneer Club aboard your Disney cruise. Sebastian’s Cove offers arts, crafts, other activities, and a dining area for the kiddies.

Less than 16 percent of the land Disney acquired for Lookout Cay has been developed for its experiences. The remaining percentage is being conserved as a nature reserve. Take a walk, enjoy a bike ride, and even take time to appreciate indigenous wildlife, like money bat moths; land crabs; and curly-tailed lizards, within their natural habitat along the Nature Trail.

Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is more than just a one-day port stop. It is a full-throated experience that is immersive into, respectful of, and genuine to Bahamian culture. Once your time at Lookout Cay has ended, and you are back aboard your Disney cruise ship, the lasting memories of your time there will have you longing to experience it again and again.
