If you’ve been anticipating the return of The Real Housewives of Potomac, you’re going to have to wait quite a bit longer than the original May 3rd premiere date, and it’s all because of the coronavirus.
After speaking with a source close to production, People is reporting that RHOP has been postponed to later this summer, in order for Bravo to maintain a steady flow of new programming on Sunday nights throughout the summer. The Real Housewives of Atlanta finale aired last Sunday and the virtual reunion episodes are set to begin airing the Sunday after next. Married to Medicine Los Angeles season 2 is still set to premiere on Sunday, May 3rd, making it the only new season airing on Sundays until the summer. BravoTV.com already reflects the RHOP premiere delay.
Bravo has halted production of several reality shows, including Married to Medicine, Southern Charm, The Real Housewives of Dallas, The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and The Real Housewives of Orange County, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fans of RHOP have been anticipating the fifth season since the First Look video was released in March. Gizelle Bryant, Karen Huger, Ashley Darby, Robyn Dixon, Monique Samuels, and Candiace Dillard Bassett are returning and will be joined by new Housewife Wendy Osefo. The preview promised an explosive season with Ashley’s husband being wrapped up in another scandal, Monique and Candiace having a physical altercation, and Wendy holding her own.
There's still no word on whether Southern Charm New Orleans, which also has a strong Black presence on the cast, is returning this summer. If you need more of a reality TV fix while staying home during the pandemic, new show Camp Getaway premieres Monday, May 4th.
