For the second time in his career, Idris Elba, who voiced Shere Khan in 2016’s The Jungle Book, will play a cat in a movie. He is reportedly in final talks to join the cast of the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats, according Page Six.

Elba will be in good company as Jennifer Hudson and Ian McKellen have already signed on for the musical. Taylor Swift and James Corden will also appear in the Tom Hooper-directed adaptation. Hooper, as you may recall, was at helm of such celebrated works as The King’s Speech, John Adams, and Les Misérables.

Universal Pictures is expected to release Cats on Dec. 20, 2019. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, as well as Hopper and Debra Hayward who co-produced Les Misérables, will produce the musical. Steven Spielberg, Lloyd Webber, and Angela Morrison are executive producing the film.

Until the release of Cats, you can see Elba next in Hobbs and Shaw, The Fate of the Furious spinoff starring Dwayne Johnson, which is expected to be released on Aug. 2, 2019. He also co-created and executive produced a series for Netflix that he stars in as well, Turn Up Charlie, which will be released in 2019. Elba will also return to the BBC series Luther next year.
