The Roots Picnic 2020 has partnered with Michelle Obama’s When We All Vote, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization, to encourage viewers to register to vote during the 13th annual music festival that will be a virtual experience exclusively on The RootsYouTube channel on Saturday, June 27th, at 8 p.m. ET. Obama will co-host the picnic with the legendary Roots Crew’s Black Thought and Questlove.

This year, there’s a call to action beyond viewing and enjoying some of the music world’s best performers. Fans and viewers are encouraged to register to vote here, by texting ROOTS to 56005, or by clicking the link in the live chat section of YouTube throughout the picnic. Before the event, however, folks can RSVP for The Roots Picnic and volunteer to text voting-age fans through Outvote, “a web and mobile organizing platform used to reach unregistered voters,” according to a press release. The goal is to reach and engage 500,000 eligible voters, so tell a friend and tell them to tell a friend.
