Quill & Coal Principal Creator Bryna Jean-Marie received both her master’s degree in Human Communication Studies: Rhetoric & Intercultural Communications and her bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Public Relations from Howard University. She has over 25 years of experience in media at companies that include Time Inc., Condé Nast, Meredith Corporation, and Hearst Publishing. She has held positions such as editor-in-chief, editorial director, senior editor, research manager, and White House correspondent at publications and websites that include UPTOWN magazine, Vogue, Architectural Digest, InStyle, O (The Oprah magazine), Glamour, Ebony, and Jet magazines. Bryna has written and produced TV and film projects that include the History channel’s Tuskegee Airmen: Legacy of Courage; the Black Cinema Café; and BET’s About Her Business, and According to Him & Her. Her branding copywriting clients include the Ad Council, Shea Moisture, Dove, and Unilever (via JOY Collective), and Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Additionally, she has lectured and taught college students speech and journalism at the Fashion Institute of Technology and the City University of New York.
