The breathtaking “pink star” diamond could fetch more than $60 million at auction in Hong Kong next month, but before then Sotheby’s is giving spectators in London a glimpse at the 59.60-carat rock.
The pink diamond is the largest and most flawless of its kind graded by the Gemological Institute of America. It reportedly surpasses “any known pink diamond recorded in history,” according to Sotheby’s.
Its price is expected to set a record for a pink diamond sold at auction. It is the most valuable cut diamond ever offered at auction.
The jewel was mined in Africa in 1999, and will be up for grabs on April 4th.
