Being a newly single 30-something sex educator, I have dedicated my education and career to helping others have safer, more dynamic sex. and healthier relationships. As a recent transplant from Los Angeles, creating a successful dating life seems daunting, if not damn near impossible in this city – even for me.
Recently in a “courtship†conversation over cocktails a friend asked, “What happened to just meeting a cute guy out and about?†I responded, “The World Wide Web and social media. Why go out when one can peruse profiles, cruise casual encounter sites and have ass be delivered as if it was Domino’s?â€
Our bartender Anton must have overheard what I said because he spun around in the most flamboyant fashion and said, “Facts honey!†He then poured three shots and suggested we explore Tinder. He said, “It’s the newest rage for the heteros.†I am game for most things so I opened up my app store and that was the beginning of the end. My friend and I ate in silence and barely made eye contact as we swiped our way to validation and humor.
Since that night, I’ve totally been on a Tinder Bender.
