For all of you Outkast fans out there who thought that their upcoming 20th anniversary tour meant that the duo was getting back together for an album, I have some bad news…
Big Boi confirmed to Revolt TV that the tour is just that.
“No, no, no. We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans,” Big Boi said when asked by Revolt TV if there was an album in the works. “That’s all it is, just the tour … It’s just the Outkast 20th year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate with our fans,” the rapper continued. “But there’s no album in the works, no.”
Big Boi and Andre 3000 haven’t made an album together as Outkast since 2006’s Idlewild. Many fans had taken their upcoming tour as a positive omen that an album was forthcoming. Despite both of them repeatedly denying that they were breaking up or have any issues, it’s hard to believe given their apparent lack of interest in working together musically.
Still, something’s better than nothing. This summer tour should be bananas. They’re doing their first performance together in 1o years at the Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival in April.
