The most beloved African-American guitarist and rock icon lives on. Tonight, Nov. 5, PBS will air the two-hour documentary Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train a Comin’ at 9 p.m. as part of the “American Masters” series.
The film features never-before-seen footage of Jimi Hendrix’s performance at the 1968 Miami Pop Festival, where he performed “Foxy Lady.” The documentary will also be released today on DVD and it comes with an audio release.
Along with the unseen footage, the documentary will explore Hendrix’s life, his influence on music during the 1960s, and his legacy in rock music. Hear My Train a Comin’ will also detail how Hendrix was an interpreter, a guitarist, a singer, and a songwriter.
Catch the PBS special tonight at 9 p.m. and while you’re free, watch a piece of a Jimi Hendrix performance and peep some more pics after the jump.
