My name is Lincoln, and I am a Black man who is currently dating a Black woman who means a lot to me. My father, who I love with all my heart, is very much an active part of my life, and my mother, also Black, embodies strength, wisdom, and character beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed. My sister, a strong young Black woman, is incredibly important to me, and I have been blessed to have many Black friends of both genders and many different nationalities, who come from various religions and have different sexual orientations. But I’m NOT special because my experiences as a Black man are less extraordinary than the internet would have you believe.
This weekend, a popular writer named Kola Boof went on a massive Twitter rant in which she blatantly put her hatred for Black men on display. Apparently she loves her white husband so much, that there’s absolutely zero room in her heart to give a flying fuck about any Black man not related to her. And while I give little to NO fucks about her, I’m getting very concerned that the massive class of extraordinary Blacks are being misled by fanatics and their overzealous bullshit.
Please don’t take extraordinary as an insult, because it’s not. Useless women like Boof (and make no mistake about it, preaching empowerment through belittling women and slandering men does render the messenger and her message useless) are the people living far from any semblance of common sense or reality. But let these idiots tell it, and they will have you completely confused over what constitutes an exception in our community.
