I don’t enjoy writing about politics. In fact, I avoid it like the plague. That’s why I haven’t been clamoring to write about this government shutdown we’ve been experiencing. Thinking about it just makes me angry and unproductive. That’s why I’m so happy to have Jon Stewart. He says everything I would like to say every night on “The Daily Show.”
Here’s a snippet of last night’s show in which Stewart discusses the Republicans’ refusal to take responsibility for shutting down the government and bringing our country perilously close to a financial implosion:
Simple. Straight to the point. YOU HAD A DEAL!!! This whole, “The President won’t negotiate” narrative is now null and void. Just stop with your ridiculous antics and talking points and admit that you shut down the government out of spite for President Obama–much of which stems from the simple fact that he is Black. Let’s just all be adults and say it for what it is, OK? Stop insulting my intelligence with your paltry attempts at excuses. Declare loud and proud that you just hate Obama and can’t live with the fact that he succeeded with his healthcare promise despite every obstacle you threw in his way. You lost! Accept it!
And now I’m seething. I’m going to go find my happy place and pray that the Republicans don’t further destroy our country. Pass over that “wheel of happy stories,” Jon.
