After all the fuss of filing a paternity suit against former basketball star Michael Jordan, his alleged baby mama has dismissed the case that claimed he fathered her 16-year-old son. The development comes after the Hall of Famer’s request to drop the suit was denied.
According to TMZ, Pamela Smith filed court documents asking a judge to dismiss her case and was granted without prejudice, meaning she has to option to file again.
In a statement released Tuesday, Smith’s lawyer Randy Kessler said:
“Ex-Girlfriend of Michael Jordan, Ms. Pamela Smith authorized a dismissal of the current suit against Mr. Jordan. She began this case without an attorney, did her best to file what she believed to be a legally appropriate case. She then hired our firm. Our firm reviewed the legal posture of the case, the history of the case, the filed pleadings and the relevant law. Ms. Smith has relied on our advice, has carefully considered the pro’s and cons of continuing the case and has determined that dismissal at this time, without prejudice, is what is in her son’s best interests.”
In February, Smith filed the paternity suit in Fulton County, GA that claimed she became pregnant after having sex with Jordan while he was still married to his ex-wife Juanita Vanoy. In June 1996, Smith gave birth to Grant Pierce Jay Jordan Reynolds.
