If you’re like us, you might have wondered why Jennifer Hudson took the stage at the inaugural ball on Monday (Jan. 21) instead of Al Green to sing his feel-good hit “Let’s Stay Together.” And now, we have answers.
A representative for Green told The Associated Press that he had been asked to sing, but scheduling conflicts prevented him from attending the big event. The legendary crooner says he would be honored to sing for President Obama (and First Lady Michelle Obama) in the future.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
A job well done to Ms. Hudson, but a performance from the Rev. would have been magnificent!
