According to the New York Post, Robert De Niro and Jay-Z engaged in a heated discussion at Leonardo DiCaprio‘sÂ birthday celebration earlier this week over a string of missed calls. When the hip-hop giant walked over to say hello, De NiroÂ reportedly confrontedÂ him about not returning his requests for a song they agreed onÂ for the Tribeca Film Festival. Page Six states:
“‘Bob wasnâ€™t in any mood to make polite conversation,’ the spy says. ‘He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesnâ€™t matter who you are, that is just rude.’
When Jay-Z tried to make a joke of it, saying he is terrible on the phone, a source says, ‘De Niro kept telling him that he thinks heâ€™s the man, but that he was disrespectful.â€™
‘BeyoncÃ© came over, but that didnâ€™t calm Bob down,’ the source said, adding that afterward, ‘It was the talk of the party. Everyone was saying thereâ€™s only one star in New York bigger and badder than Jay-Z, and thatâ€™s Robert De Niro. He can be quite scary when heâ€™s angry.'”
While reps for both De NiroÂ and Jay-Z declined to comment, a source close to the actor said the private conversation was apparently overheard, but not a heated discussion.
Â The event– attended by Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, Chris Rock, Cameron Diaz, Edward Norton and others– raised funds for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, an organization dedicated to the environment.
