The whirlwind drama between Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash and his accuser Sheldon Stephens has spilled into this week with a new report that the 23-year-old aspiring model is looking to undo his settlement.
After false allegations of an underage sex scandal, Clash agreed to pay Stephens a $125,000 settlement to recant his claims and abide by the following agreement:
“‘Stephens agrees that immediately upon execution of this Agreement, his counsel, Andreozzi & Associates, P.C., shall release the [following] statement … ‘He [Stephens] wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.'”
Just days after recanting the allegation, TMZ reports Stephens is now interviewing lawyers to undo the settlement. The Harrisburg, PA resident claims he was pressured into signing the agreement and stands by his original story. Stephens told his lawyers he will gladly forfeit the $125,000 payout to “restore his name.”
In a statement released last Tuesday, Clash said he was relieved that the painful allegation had been put to rest and did not want to discuss the matter any further. Since this latest development, there has been no word from the puppeteer’s camp.
