Morris Chestnut is continuing to keep busy this year with two new roles on the horizon. The Think Like A Man actor has just been cast in Showtime’s Golden Globe-nominated comedy Nurse Jackie. He, along with Broadway star Marcy Harriell, will join the cast next season, reports Deadline.
Chestnut is set to play Ike Prentiss, a new trauma doctor and former Army medic who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. While well-versed in his field, Prentiss could stand to learn a thing or two from Jackie (Edie Falco). Harriell will play Marta Rodriguez, a new nurse on the floor, who is a mother of three working extra shifts whenever she can.

In addition to the upcoming television role, Chestnut is also in talks to play Graham Jackson in Fox Searchlight’s Baggage Claim. The romantic comedy, based on David E. Talbert’s best-selling debut novel, centers around a flight attendant traveling across America in hopes to find a husband.
Paula Patton, Derek Luke, Octavia Spencer, Taye Diggs, Trey Songz and others have all been confirmed for the project.
