“Now look at me, I can park at my own arena.” – Jay-Z, “Three Kings”
Although Mr. Carter only owns about one-fifteenth of a percent of the Brooklyn Nets, art is beginning to imitate life for the business-savvy rapper. On Tuesday, the New York Post released the first photos of the team’s new 18,200-seat Barclays Center.

Brett Yormark, the arena’s CEO, describes the one-of-a-kind court as their version of “the Boston Celtics parquet floors.”
“We wanted a court that was identifiable and different, so that when fans turn on the TV at home they’ll realize they are in Brooklyn,” he said. “This court does exactly that.”
The revamped franchise will begin play on Oct. 15 in an exhibition game against the Washington Wizards. Their first regular season match-up will take place against the New York Knicks on Nov. 1.
But before all of the NBA action begins, Jay-Z will christen the sparkling center with eight shows running from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6. And knowing his track record, there’s no telling who he’ll bring out on stage.
