Despite what America has to say about Gabby Douglas‘ hair, the Olympic gold medalist has made it very clear that she is not hung up on such trivial matters. Still, what young woman would pass up a chance to get their tresses done over by a celebrity hair stylist?
Ted Gibson, who’s worked on heads that include Gabrielle Union and Angelina Jolie, sat Douglas down in his chair on Tuesday to achieve an age-appropriate look for the pint-sized star.
“It’s tricky because Gabby is 16 and I don’t want to do anything to make her look 25 years old. Together with her vision, I hope we can create something that’s easy and looks great no matter what she’s doing or where she is,” he told The Daily Beast. “I hope to create something that makes her feel good about herself as well. That’s so important and a big part of what I do for all the women I work with.”

And that he did. The center-parted, soft-waved ‘do has made Douglas a very happy girl.
“Ted Gibson Is AWESOME!!! LOVE HIM SOO MUCH!!!” she tweeted on Tuesday. “A special thank you to my Gold Medal Celebrity Hair Stylist!”
But Gibson could not ignore the nasty comments made by viewers while Douglas was competing in London. When asked about the criticism surrounding the gymnast’s hair, Gibson revealed his frustrations with the discussion.
“I couldn’t believe it and still can’t,’’ he said. “You have this young girl doing amazing things, and the conversation becomes about her hair? It was ridiculous and shameful.”
