Remember her? Remy Ma (real name: Reminisce Smith) was the first lady rapper of the Terror Squad team that included other talents such as Fat Joe, Cuban Link, and the late Big Pun. The Grammy-nominated artist was on her way to the top. She had a great fan base, she was recognized for her rap skills, and her album was selling. Remy’s career quickly came to a standstill in July 2007 when she turned herself over to the New York Police Department to address her involvement in a shooting. A woman by the name of Makeda Barnes-Joseph was shot and clearly pointed out Remy as the shooter. Since 2008, the Bronx-born rapper has been spending her days and nights on lock down, and will not see freedom until at least 2015. Just like that, her career and dreams were just snatched out of her reach. There is no telling what kind of career Remy will have after she is released from jail, but right now her it’s kaput.
