According to Deadline, Nickelodeon has ordered three comedy pilots including Instant Mom which is set to air on its nighttime segment Nick at Nite. Mowry is in negotiations to star as “a 25-year-old party girl who trades in cosmos for carpools when she marries an older man with kids.”
The script is reportedly based on the real lives of writers Warren Bell and Jessica Butler and the show will feature an all-black cast. Instant Mom will be Mowry’s return to scripted comedy.
In May, Mowry revealed to Vibe Vixen her plans to brand herself through parenting, among other things.
“I want to build a brand from scratch and focus on it, whether it’s building a television show for positive women of color, movies and building a brand with my ‘mommy-hood,’ ” she said.
Mowry currently stars with her sister Tamera Mowry-Hardrict in Style’s reality series Tia & Tamera, which airs Mondays at 8/7c.
