An investigation is underway to find out how a family friend allegedly struck Tameka Raymond‘s 11-year-old son with a jet ski, leaving him brain dead.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jeffrey S. Hubbard is being questioned about hitting Kile Glover and a 15-year-old female friend while the two were floating on inner tubes in Georgia’s Lake Lanier on Friday.
Sgt. Mike Burgamy of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources told the New York Daily News that the watercraft ran over the top of Kile and his friend.
“One minute the jet ski was running around, the next he ran over the top of them– it happened that quickly,” Burgamy said. “It appears the watercraft did strike both juveniles, with the male taking the brunt of the force.”
Authorities said they don’t believe alcohol or mechanical malfunction played a part in the accident. Burgamy declined to comment on potential charges against Hubbard, stating that it will depend on Kiles’s medical condition.
“He’s bad” are the few words Raymond has released on the state of her son, while ex-husbands Usher and entertainment executive Ryan Glover have yet to speak.
Us Weekly reports that Usher is absolutely devastated about the tragic accident, as he and Kile were close.
“He grew close to Kyle [sic] and, of course, that has nothing to do with the situation with Tameka,” said a source. “He loved Kyle. This is a terrible, awful tragedy. Usher is torn up.”
Kile is one of two children between Raymond and Glover, her first husband. She and Usher have two boys, Usher V (4) and Naviyd (3).
