A weekend in the Hamptons is a summer ritual for New Yorkers. Exactly how those 2-3 days are spent take many forms but can generally be summarized as follows: get there, eat there, party there, go home.
Last weekend’s destination was Sag Harbor. Getting from point N to point SH is half the battle so when you’re offered a ride*, the right thing to do is jump on it. This ride came in the form of the Cadillac XTS Premium, loaded with all the features a city girl needs (read: Nav + OnStar courtesy of CUE) to get to the outskirts of Long Island in one piece.
Staying within walking distance of Sag Harbor’s Main Street makes for guiltless eating and drinking opportunities. Highlights included seafood chowder plus many glasses of an off-menu tipple called Happy Birthday from B. Smith’s, people watching and wine-ing from the patio (aka The Porch depending on the company you keep) at The American Hotel, plus brunch-time fish n chips from Page.
The real reason our crew was there was to attend the 13th Annual Art for Life Gala hosted by Danny and Russell Simmons at the latter’s East Hampton home. Despite a rainy start, the event raised over $1.9M, thanks to generous support from guests Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, Star Jones, Grant and Tamia Hill, Michael Williams, Jill Zarin and Soledad “shhhhhhh†O’Brien, who mc’d. Anita Baker and Melanie Fiona serenaded the crowd but it was Salt – n – Pepa who really put the crowd in a “Push It†mood. The after parties continued at Georgica and Player’s Club, though upon seeing the throngs of people waiting in line outside, yours truly called it a night.
