Scott– who has dressed the likes of Beyonce, Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and countless others– recently came under fire for his controversial JS Roundhouse Mid “Handcuffs,” with shackle-esque accessories included.
Scott insists his designs had no racial undertones, rather they were inspired by his childhood.
Still, Adidas pulled the $350 sneakers Monday night after this statement released to the Associated Press:
“The design of the JS Roundhouse Mid is nothing more than the designer Jeremy Scott’s outrageous and unique take on fashion and has nothing to do with slavery. Since the shoe debuted on our Facebook page ahead of its market release in August, Adidas has received both favorable and critical feedback. We apologize if people are offended by the design and we are withdrawing our plans to make them available in the marketplace.”
Fortunately for Scott, the “Handcuffs” weren’t his only creation with the billion-dollar company.
