The well-placed original art pieces range from a set of Hirschfelds to a block of Jacob Lawrence prints (gifted from her father). A prominent work in the sitting room is even closer to her heart. “For Christmas, Teddy surprised me with a piece that I had been admiring for some time. It is a 1922 French painting titled Les deMoiselle de Fantasie by Hélène Perdriat,” says Avant.
The hallway leading to the kitchen and media room is lined with inspirational quotes, which she initially worried was overly sentimental. However, she received a dash of approval from an unexpected audience. “The kids say they love reading the quotes,” says Avant of Sarandos’ two children, Sarah, 17, and Tony, 15. Not surprising, however, since inspiring others seems to be in her DNA. “My goal has always been to empower young people to become the best versions of themselves,” she says. “I will use my blessings to help improve the lives of others.”
