According to The Lantern, “Independence Day” director Roland Emmerich is gearing up for the blockbuster’s sequel. Emmerich has finished the screenplay for the second installment and is looking to bring the original cast together including Smith, Vivica A. Fox and Bill Pullman.
“We’ve talked to [Will], but naturally he wants to see a script, which I totally understand,” he says.“I’d say hold tight, it’s happening soon.”
In addition to the sequel, Dean Devlin, co-writer, says there is a possibility for two more sequels.
“Independence Day” debuted in theaters on July 2, 1996 and grossed more than $816 million worldwide.
