The singer walked the “black carpet” in a floor-length, siren orange Lavin dress while holding her growing belly, sending the media into a chaotic frenzy. A rep for Knowles immediately confirmed that the singer is indeed pregnant. The moment was only later to be upstaged by Knowles performance of “Love On Top” in which she started off by saying:
“I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.”
The joyous uptempo performance was fitting for the occasion; and in a moment that will surely go down in pop culture history, Knowles dropped her microphone, unbuttoned her purple Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo jacket and rubbed stomach as she presented her latest creation. The camera quickly panned to Jay-Z, looking every bit of a proud husband and father-to-be.
According to MTV.com, the couple reunited backstage to celebrate, along with many other artists including Kanye West and Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Knowles declared “I’m free!”, happy to share the news and Jay-Z summed up the moment by saying, “That was an eventful night, to say the least.”
With news that Beyonce is expecting comes word of a delay on her upcoming project “A Star is Born”, directed by Clint Eastwood. Deadline.com reports that the film remake scheduled for February 2012 “could push”, as she would be close to her due date.
But the delay could be a good thing. There is still no word on who will play the lead male role, so the extra time could work in the movie’s favor. With Leonardo DiCaprio out of the picture, Will Smith and Christian Bale are reportedly being considered.
However the dust settles, this is an exciting time for Beyonce and we wish her all the best.
