Yesterday, rumors surfaced that their late-night talk show “The Mo’Nique Show” was being canceled due to disagreements between Mo’Nique and network execs.
Today, the rumors are true.
The reason for the show’s canceling are still not clear, but BET has confirmed that the show will not be back for the fall. A public relations rep at BET sent UPTOWN this official statement:
“The Mo’Nique Show will be on production hiatus beginning in the Fall. However, new episodes of the show will continue to air throughout the summer. Mo’nique Hicks and The Mo’Nique Show are important to the BET Networks family and we look forward to continuing our relationship with her.”
Mo’Nique’s sidekick, Rodney Perry, hinted yesterday that the show was over and had a pleasure working with the “Queen of Comedy”.
The show would have been ushering into its third season.
BET Networks have also announced that it will “supersize” their video countdown show “106 & Park” to a 3-hour format through Labor Day Weekend. The show will now give viewers an extra hour to get their music fix, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET/PT. 106 & Park remains the No. 1 music countdown show on cable television.
