Last night, my sister came to my house and handed me a piece of lined paper ripped from a three-ring binder. “Maybe you can use this in your next article?” she asked.
I was blown away by what it said:
“I sat in an audition the other day and overheard a child proclaim that he was 7-and-a-half years old. That comment evoked instant nostalgia as I remembered the halves that I used to add to my age. When did we stop adding the halves? In fact, when did we stop telling people our real age?
Are we not proud of the number of years that we have lived, thrived, suffered, accomplished, lasted, pushed on, and pushed through on this earth? We should never be ashamed of the number of birthdays we have celebrated.
Be happy. Be proud. We are ALIVE!”
Amen to that! I am 34-and-a-half. I must admit it feels somewhat strange but oddly liberating to proclaim. Thank you, universe, for supporting my growth for so many years. Thank you! And thank you to my sister, Michelle, for doing my job this week!
We are another month older and ready for February’s set of Well-Life Maintenance goals:
Spiritual: Go outside and look at a tree. The tree grows, sustains the climate of four seasons, and, as far as we know, does not complain. Meditate on the peaceful, strong existence of the tree. Bring this quiet resilience into your being, and observe what grows around you.
Mental: Stop complaining. Let’s try to have a month of complain-free communication. That, in itself, will be a win for most of us!
Emotional: Let it out! Express yourself! Make an oath to express how you feel if it is for the highest good of everyone involved.
Physical: Dance. When you hear music, dance as if no one is watching you. You will fall in love with yourself, and everyone else around you will fall in love with you!
Welcome to Uplift at UPTOWN. If you are just joining us this week, my name is Anita Kopacz. I am an author and spiritual adviser with a passion to see people thrive! Collective energy possesses a divine power that can remove stubborn obstacles and open locked doors. My intention is to join our UPTOWN family in spirit and forge our return to healthy living. With the Well-Life Maintenance program, together we will take small steps in four areas of our lives to improve our quality of living. The four areas include Spiritual, Mental, Emotional, and Physical. You can find more in my new book, Finding Your Way: Alphabetical Keys to the Divine.
